Artificial intelligence

2 min read

A website made from a template or an AI tool looks like your competitors’, because they use the same tools. What sets you apart is not the design: it’s your proof, your words and your real photos.

A potential customer has three tabs open: yours, your competitor’s, and a third.
They look at them one after the other. They can’t see the difference.

A nice website, chosen with care

When you built your website, you chose well. A modern template, or an AI tool that put everything together in a few minutes. Big photo at the top, a strong sentence, three columns of services, a blue button.

It’s clean. It’s even nicer than the old one.

The problem is that your competitor had the same good idea. The same month, with the same tool.

Three tabs, no difference

Go back to that customer. They’re looking for someone for a project that matters to them.

First tab: a nice photo, “Your trusted partner”, three services. Second tab: a nice photo, “Solutions tailored to your needs”, three services. Third: you can guess.

Since nothing helps them choose, they choose on what’s left. The lowest price. The closest. The first to answer.

You may have the best service of the three. On the screen, it doesn’t show.

The hidden logo test

Try this on your own website. Cover your logo and your name with your hand.

Can people still tell it’s you? Could a single sentence on the page be on your competitor’s website without anyone noticing?

If so, your website is a uniform. Well cut, but the same as everyone else’s.

It’s not the tool’s fault. Templates and AI do exactly what they exist for: reproduce what works on average. The result is therefore average, and the same for everyone.

What can’t be copied

Your competitor can copy your layout in an afternoon. They can’t copy:

  • your proof: your real projects, your real reviews, with company names and results;
  • your words: the way you explain your trade when a customer asks you a question on the phone;
  • your photos: your team, your job sites, your premises. Not a stock image found on ten other websites;
  • your reason: what your customers say when asked why they chose you.

That’s where a website stands out. Design is there to bring those things forward, not to replace them.

Take the test again

A good website passes the hidden logo test. You read it for ten seconds and you know who you’re dealing with, even without the name at the top.

Does your website pass the test? We can do it together.
